The sculpture stands on the threshold between public and private. With its ‘welcome’ inscription imprinted on 231 chewed chewing gums, the doormat invites the audience to communicate with a body locked in its psychosomatic pain. Bruxism - an unspoken stress that silences and distances the body - is crystallized in the action of chewing.
Its bright pink color and sweet strawberry smell conceal a request for proximity and closeness within it.
The site-specific sculpture is completed with the participation of the public, who is allowed to observe and step on the sculpture like a regular doormat at the entrance to the space.

The site-specific sculpture stands on the staircase, making it impossible to climb without using one of the three steps. The 1364 chewed pink chewing gum simulates the movement and tension with which we charge the jaw in a stressful situation. The audience is invited to bridge this distance and confront someone else pain that disfigures and disgusts. However through its sweet taste and smell it portrays also the seduction a body has for pain.
