That single minute which marks the passage from one day to the next appears here as a suspended image in space. The refracted reflections of a disco ball are hand-painted onto the walls using phosphorescent pigment. Charged throughout the day by natural and artificial light, these fragments emerge in darkness and slowly fade, disappearing only to be reactivated again. These reflective inlays trace the outlines of walls that no longer exist, foregrounding the layered architectural history of the site. In contrast to the exhibition’s ephemeral gestures, these markers insist on material memory, raising quiet questions about former uses, vanished divisions, and the persistence of spatial meaning. Where do these marks come from, and what do they continue to hold? The installation features a wardrobe reassembled inside-out at the center of a room, whose floor is covered by a waterbed that reflects its architecture. Through this metaphysical act of inversion between inside and outside, the external world—made of light and sound—is reduced to a minimal space. The interior, in turn, unfolds into the room, and we find ourselves all inside Marcelle’s flooded wardrobe, experiencing both the pleasure and discomfort of a hiding place. Every lost object gets stuck in this state of limbo, caught between forgetfulness and an uncertain fate — like a balloon that slips from a distracted hand and softly pushes against the ceiling, reaching for the blue. In the tale, Orlando loses his mind for love. To find his wits, one of his knights must fly to the Moon, where everything lost on Earth is collected The site-specific installation is created to speak through its container: the Hošek Contemporary, a boat from 1900 on the Spree, Berlin, embodies the metaphor of the Moon. Thanks to the light, the gaps between the floor’s antique planks acquire value as a portal to finding something lost and forgotten. Laundry, an intimate and domestic ritual, becomes a quiet act of defiance when exposed in public. As in Palermo, 1992, when white sheets mourned Giovanni Falcone’s death. As in Genoa, 2001, during the infamous G8. As in Como, 1969, with Giovanni Pettena’s installation. Here, laundry marks a new topography—a third landscape of social margins, as Gilles Clément described. A subtle act of protest that uses intimacy and vulnerability as a weapon. Each bed sheet carries a single, sewn letter—the first of an imagined name.
